Toowong Cemetery is Queensland’s largest cemetery. The first burial was that of Colonel Samuel Blackall, Queensland’s second Governor, on 6 January 1871. The cemetery was not officially opened until 3 July 1875. Since then over 120 000 people have been buried there.
