The Society is situated in the Old Windsor Shire/Town Council Chambers, built in 1897 to house the Windsor Shire Council, which was established in 1887. Windsor became a municipality in 1904, hence the change in lettering engraved on the front wall of the chambers.

The stone building houses the Society’s museum. The collection includes photographs of Presidents of the Shire Council 1887-1904, and Mayors of the Town Council 1904-1925, in the re-created Mayor’s room, and stonemason's tools, local bottles, a 1924 wedding veil and bricks from famous houses and local brickyards.

Adjoining the Chambers are the Windsor War Memorial and Windsor Town Quarry Parks. The quarry is heritage listed, along with the tramway substation located in the park.
